Behind the Records: Texas' All-Time Girl's Marks and Times
When you look at the names across the Top 5 in all events in Texas history, you can't help but envision the great athletes sprinting, jumping and/or throwing, bringing back amazing memories of grace and athleticism unparalleled.
At the end of the 2019 season, ten individual girls or relay teams entered Texas' all-time Top 5.
1. Kenondra Davis - Fort Worth Trimble Tech - #5 in the 100-meter dash - 11.36
2. Rosaline Effiong - DeSoto - #5 in the 200-meter dash - 23.21
3. Bailey Goggans - Marble Falls - #4 in the 800 - 2:06.10i
4. Sasha Longmire - Cedar Ridge - #5 in the 800 - 2:06.54
5. Brynn Brown - Denton Guyer - #1 in the 3200 - 9:54.07 [acceptable 2-Mile conversion]
6. DeSoto - #1 4x100 Relay - 44.24
7. DeSoto - #4 4x800 Relay - 9:14.70 [non-scored event in UIL]
8. Jasmine Moore - Mansfield Lake Ridge - #1 in the Triple Jump - 44-10.00
9. Emily Cole - Klein - #1 in the 2K Steeple - 6:54.63 [non-scored event in Texas]
10. Adoette Vaughan - #2 in the 2K Steeple - 6:58.34 [non-scored event in Texas]

Even though the 2K Steeple isn't a scored event in Texas, like the javelin, both events are great to watch and are gaining in popularity. The 4x800 is a scored event in the SPC - Southwest Preparatory Conference.
The DeSoto ladies are now represented in the top 5 of all four relays, including a National Record 4x100 set at the 2019 UIL State Championships. Their 44.24 time flies past Dallas Skyline at #2 (44.60.) DeSoto ranks #3 in the 4x200 (1:34.87; 2017), #1 in the 4x400 (3:37.85; 2017), and #4 in the 4x800 at 9:14.70 (2019.)

While DeSoto performed brilliantly in the relays (on its way to a dominant state title), four Texas #1 times and/or marks were set in 2019.

DYK that two of the times/marks are National Records?

DYK that the oldest #1 time/mark belongs to 5-time Olympian Amy Acuff from Corpus Christi Calallen HS? Her 6-04.00 high jump mark from 1993 is still the standard in Texas, yet it's not the oldest mark in the Top 5. That belongs to Meledy Smith of Houston Sterling - 21-01.25 in the long jump, set in 1982.
To be represented in the Top 5 in Texas history is an amazing feat, but did you know that several girls are represented twice?
